Description

Foundations of Mathematics 11 offers students an opportunity to study proportional relationships, optimization, logical reasoning and statistical analysis.  This class provides authentic learning experiences as our students discover the meaning and connections between the many branches of mathematics and how they connect to other disciplines.

The following concepts will be covered in the course:

  • solving systems of linear inequalities
  • properties of angles and triangles
  • non-right angled trigonometry
  • applications of probabilities and statistics
  • graphing quadratic functions
  • graphical solutions to systems of equations
  • inductive and deductive reasoning
  • financial literacy
  • scale models

Completion Opportunities

Students who complete this course may choose to carry on to Pre-calculus 11 or they may decide to use this course credit as a prerequisite for post-secondary courses/programs in fields of study such as the health sciences and various trades programs at Camosun College or the University of Victoria.  Check with the appropriate institution for specifics regarding pre-requisites.
