Description

Workplace Mathematics 11 provides authentic learning experiences as our students discover the meaning and connections between he many branches of mathematics and how they connect to other disciplines.  This class offers students an opportunity to learn proportional reasoning, make informed financial decisions, represent 3 dimensional objects in 2 dimensions, and represent and analyze data.

The following concepts will be covered in the course:

  • trigonometry
  • slope
  • representing data graphically
  • surface area and volume
  • scale drawings
  • financial literacy
  • personal money management

Completion Opportunities

Students who complete this course may choose to carry on to Pre-calculus 11 or they may decide to use this course credit as a prerequisite for post-secondary courses/programs in fields of study such as the health sciences and various trades programs at Camosun College or the University of Victoria.  Check with the appropriate institution for specifics regarding pre-requisites.
